WooCommerce website created for automated retail company based on agency-supplied visuals.
Summary of the brief
WordPress website created for Livewell Vending, an automated retail company based in Leeds. Created as a lockdown project in the second half of 2020, the client’s main goal was to drive business during covid, since their existing website was an attractive but inflexible brochure website with no on-site ecommerce. Working with an agency who supplied the visuals, I did all development work on the site.
Fundamental requirements included a WooCommerce store with separate pricing structures for retail and wholesale customers; a bespoke “Solution Wizard” application which allows the user to choose the right product through an intuitive UI interface; and a full component library using the considerable layout possibilities of the Gutenberg Editor.

Using the WooCommerce Storefront theme as a base, I was able to rapidly develop a set of WooCommerce layouts which integrate perfectly with the rest of the site.
Through custom development I also created the mechanisms to have two flat pricing structures on the site: one for retail customers which includes VAT, and a separate one for logged-in wholesale customers which excludes VAT.
Solution Wizard Application
The Solution Wizard is a bespoke PHP application which uses conditional logic to funnel the user to a specific product recommendation based on their answers to various questions.
It works like this: you choose between vending machines and coffee machines. Depending on your postcode, you have access to either a fully-managed vending service or various leasing options. Further questions regarding number of people / type of business / type of products refine the choice further, before delivering the final recommendation on the form submission page.
Results
The client described the site as “a huge step for Livewell in terms of an expanded range of products and services, vastly increased in the scale of content, and improved functionality”.
