Philosophical Fiction Group

We meet regularly in Leeds to discuss short essays and philosophical novels.

What is the

Leeds Philosophical Fiction Group?

How are we different?

The Leeds Philosophical Fiction Group began in April 2013 when we read and discussed writers such as Sartre, Nietzsche, de Beauvoir, and others.

How does it work?

The group has now expanded into its current format, where a 20-30 minute presentation (on a philosopher and their work) is followed by a discussion about one of their books. No prior knowledge is assumed and people can choose to read the book beforehand or not.

The chosen works are intended to be accessible and will be either fictional novels (eg. The Castle by Franz Kafka) or short essays (eg. Truth and Lie In An Extra-Moral Sense by Friedrich Nietzsche).

How Can I Get Involved?

Dates for the 2014 events have yet to be announced, but email info@philosophicalfiction.org.uk and we'll add you to the mailing list so you'll be the first to know!
